About this page:

Here you can find an induction activity that you can do during an IT session (or as a homework task) to help you understand the basics of myPortfolio. It is recommended that ALL students have a go at this prior to starting their assessment.

Brief:

You are to create an 'about me' page that could be shared with a classmate. This page should showcase at least 3 things that you're interested in and/or can brag about. For example, my key interests are dance, archery, social media and education. What are yours?

Step 1: Creating Artifacts

You first need to start generating content that you will place into your portfolio. To to this hover over the content menu and select the item you want to create. if you need further assistance navigate to the help page on content as this covers what each type of artefact is.

Step 2: Create a page

Before you start, your first step is to decide on what you'd like to showcase. Jot them down on some paper and think about what you'll want to put in your page; photos, youtube videos, text etc. Now it's time to create a page, choose a theme and a layout for it. To start, go to Portfolio tab, click create page button & give your page a title.

> See how to create a page

> See how to choose a layout and theme

Step 3: Add content to your page

Now you've created the framework, it's time to add your content. You can drag and drop a number of items onto your page including text, images and content from the web. In my example, I've even added elements from my CV Builder and profile. See below how to do this:

> See how to add content to your pages

Step 4: Share your page via a 'secret URL'

4a. You've created your page, now it's time to share it. There are so many ways you can do this, but for the purpose of this exercise you will generate a secret URL and either email it to your teacher and the person sat next to you, or share it via a forum in your myCourse/SOL page. Please check with your lecturer which method they prefer. Locate the 'Share your page/collection via a Secret URL/Private weblink' guide via the link below:

> See how to create your secret URL

4b. You might need to submit your work on myCourse now so to do this you need to Log in to myCourse. Go to your assignment in your unit. Click 'Add submission', select your page or collection you wish to submit. Press 'Save Changes' and once you are ready to submit your work so that you can no longer edit it press 'Submit assignment'.
